I have acquired a 'few' pieces of.... silver plated? things ranging from a tea pot to spoons to trays. I am at a loss as to what to do with it all.
Polish it up or paint them??
Suggestions?
So many treasures. So many possibilities. I wish I was as inspired now as I was when I toted these lovelies home. sigh. Whats a girl to do?
I'm a painter. I paint everything. (See our blue coffee table for reference) I do think it might be sacrilege to paint these beauties though. Especially that last teapot. do NOT paint that lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the no painting of the tea pot. It has HOTEL TAFT NEW YORK on it... I'm thinking a good polish and maybe some research may be in order for this one.
DeleteI'm all about painting things. I just wish I knew more about some of these pieces like the year it was made, brands, if its all just silver plated, etc. I just dont want to paint something that may actually (doubtfully) be worth something to someone. ya know.
Clearly, I over think things.
Make cake stands!
ReplyDeleteOr use them all around the house! I have silver trays on my dresser, desk, buffet, and kitchen counter. They're great for corraling things!
And yes, baby had! Thanks for the congrats!
ReplyDeleteand p.s. you could still guest post if you really want to! I still haven't gotten back on my game!
These are gorgeous! I have some trays like the ones you pictured polished and hung on my kitchen walls as art, hung using the plate hangers you can get from Target etc. If you have some trays to spare I've seen people use a little chalkboard paint in the middle to make a chalkboard/magnetboard for their home with a pretty silver framing to it. That teapot is amazing!

Tough call. I love the statement they make when all together. I'd probably polish them and then reevaluate. I bet some of those trays would look awesome painted.
ReplyDeletepolish them? if there a place in your home where they could be displayed?
