Miscellany

A day in my life is far from exciting, but here it is.

6am: Coffee for me, 7am: food for the pup, 8am: walking the big kids to school, 9am: getting dolled up, 10am, ready to take on the day, 11am: Mah Jong like a boss, Noon: the beast must eat again, 1pm: Mall time alone, 2pm: at the eye doc, 3pm, driving around in the Mr's big old dirty pick up truck, 4pm: taking some time to smell the roses, 5pm: admiring my lovely earrings found at the mall earlier (2 pairs are going to SGT for a bday present, ya know, since I always remember hers), 6pm: ZENNI! gotta get those cheap glasses since I had to get a new script from the doc.

There you have it. A day in the life of...

Thankful

Wow, where have I been this week?! You'd think there was a holiday or something! ☺

This month I have spent a lot of time reflecting on the things I am thankful for.
  1. I am thankful for my health and the health of those close to us.
  2. I am thankful for my husband returning home safely from his 4th war time deployment, one year ago.
  3. I am thankful that he is still home with us and able to spend the holidays together as a family this year. (next year, we will not be as fortunate)
  4. I am thankful for my incredibly candid and undeniably entertaining kids. They both amaze me & make me laugh every single day.
  5. I am thankful because no matter where we end up, we explore and find beauty in the things surrounding us.
  6. I am thankful to have the opportunity to experience the many different cultures right inside the US. Someday I hope to do the same in another country.
  7. I am thankful for family and for friends who turn into family.
  8. I am thankful for my dog. As silly as it sounds, he truly is a good friend to me & to the kids. He is a member of this family and we love him dearly.
  9. I am thankful for people who go into public service. Government, Nonprofit/NGO, International, Consulting, Education. Could you imagine how life would be without them? They have to take on a lot with little recognition and pay.
  10. Lastly, I am thankful for chocolate pie. During the holidays, my grandma Joan often made a chocolate pie special for me because I never liked the other kinds. To this day, I try to always make one in honor of her.

Word[less] Wednesday

This is Murphy, our mantle great dane, age 15 months.
if you are interested in adding to your family, check out your local great dane rescue. These big guys have lots of love to give and are as gentile as a baby, but not very graceful... you've been warned.
Open your heart & home to a dane and you will not regret it.

Check here, here, and here.

Mondays.

In general, when I hear someone chant the words “Oh, are you having a case of the Mondays?” I naturally want to claw my eyes out. Yesterday, however, I fear I was undeniably having a “Case of the Mondays”. Forgive me for using that expression, as I am instantly remorseful.

6:00 am – hit the snooze 6:15 am – hit the snooze again … this carried on until 7:00 am when I finally rolled out of bed and attempted to wake my offspring. Got Redd off to school then had to follow the Mr. to an auto body place to fix the paint job on his classic 69 Mustang Gt. Auto body shop #1 rejected us because they only work on cars 2000 or newer. Auto body shop #2 was a go, but we got crazy lost on the way there. [Keep in mind we are still new to this city.]Now it is about 11:00 am and I have to leave him to take Dollface to school. No sooner do I pull into the parking lot, I get a call from the Mr; the car is smoking and he is stranded on the side of the road. Lovely. Call a tow truck; he will be home in an hour. I go home to check on our great dane [big baby Murphy] to find that he had WAY too much fun in the few hours we were gone…

I would like to say that this was the end of the Monday curse, but it was not. I ended up at the doctors’ office for several hours putting an end to my manic Monday at 7:30 pm. Ah, all in a day’s work.

Tuesday, I welcome you with open arms.  Please be kind.

Away We Go

Time to start pulling your own weight around here, seriously dude, you're huge and high maintenance
{great dane}. Carrying your own
food, water, and poop bags is the least you can do.
Going to the park or other outings will be just a
little bit easier
as soon as this baby arrives.

The big boy is about to be stylin in his new:
Excursion Dog Backpack X-Large in Ice Blue

Oot Oot I'm excited!

Accidents Hurt - Safety Doesn't

{Boo Boo's happen} Often. At least they do in my house with my rowdy kiddos. And for some stinkin reason, the band aids and neosporin are never where I  left them. Do you ever have this problem or am I the only disorganized one out here?

Using online printable 40% off coupons from: Michaels, AC Moore, & Jo-Anne Fabric & Crafts, I went to Michaels and bought 3 tin totes.

Michaels requires you to make seperate purchaces in order to use all 3 coupons.
No problem :-)
[ yes, I am that annoying coupon toting
chick at the craft store, sorry ]

Saving money makes me smile   =-)

I needed 3 different first aid kits.
1- to keep at home
2- to keep in the car
3- to keep handy for the doggy

The one with red ribbons is the home kit and the
one with blue and green ribbons is the travel car kit.

Murph-man even has his own.
{Spoiled}

I don't know about your dog, but mine have all been big babies and keeping Benadryl on hand is a must. We haven't had any issues with Murphy yet, but I keep some around just in case. Better safe than sorry.

This is the some things in my travel car kit:
Benadryl for kids or dog
Itch creme for bug bites
Bug Spray
Nail Clippers (you never know)
Alcohol Wipes
Band aids and Neosporin
