Drunk Cake

Have you seen all the Drunk Barbie cakes on Pinterest? There are so many different variations out there. Some of which are cute, some are funny, and some are just gross. Personally, I wouldn't want a Barbie toilet on my cake, but thats just me.

Fun right? I mean really, I could make a Drunk Cake pretty much every weekend just for fun and take over to a friends house with a bottle of booze. If that doesn't set the mood of the evening I dont know what does.

Since I'm not much for Barbies I chose to go the Monster High route. Besides, its not like I'm going to keep the dolls. My daughter has a massive MH collection with ZERO Barbies to her name. She was more that willing to keep the dolls when we were done. Parenting done right?

By using Monster High dolls, it can easily be turned into an awesome Halloween party cake too! 

Now for my version of the Drunk Cake:

I learned, by way of Pinterest, that if you put a package of hotdogs in a slow cooker on low and without adding water, they plump up like gas station hotdogs! This was music to this less than classy girls ear! PERFECT! What kid doesn’t like a hotdog? … so it turns out my friends kid doesn't… but I had cheese sticks on hand, so all was well with the world.

Cup Saver Tip: Sharpies

Write some names on the cups a head of time and leave a sharpie near by to help eliminate unnecessary disposing of half drank drinks.

I stashed extra cups, napkins, plates, etc. in a picnic basket near by. Handy and tidy :)

To dress up the dogs we had:

With a freshly painted sunroom (more on diy hell coming soon,) friends, a birthday boy, and music, I’d have to say that the day turned out better than expected. I had completely anticipated chaos, but the kids were pretty chill.  

Traditions

Whoa! Where did the time go?
My baby boy. He is now EIGHT. WOW. 
It feels like it was only yesterday that I went for a normal baby o.b. appointment. I had just began to start talking to the doctor about what our plan was going to be if I went past me due date. To my surprise, he called a nurse in & told me "we wont need to worry about that." What?! The nurse enters with a wheelchair to take me up to labor and delivery.
Turns out that our little 'fiery one' was going to make his debut that day!
Fast-forward to major back labor then an emergency c-section and bam. Here he is.
A blue eyed, red haired, button nose, prince charming. 

 

So there you have it. My Aidan. My heart. 
and just a little tidbit- 
In 2004 the name Aidan name was #43 on the most popular list, not #1. We had no idea his name, and several variations of it, would reach such popularity immediately after naming him. 

So that brings me to -Birthday Traditions-

In our house, if its your birthday you are greeted with singing, chocolate chip pancakes and a candle to blow out. Side Note: if your pancakes are still mostly hot, thin candles like these tend to melt and not stand up. 

 

Next weekend is the party. Gosh, I love parties. I'll be honest tho, I'm just not feelin' it this year. Oh well. We are hosting a pool party birthday party this go around. Complete with tons of pool activities and a hotdog bar.Should be a good time & I know I will have camera in hand most of the time, so be sure to come back next week to see the Pool Party post!

Political Debates: the most entertaining and enjoyable reality show on TV to date. How, you might ask... turn it into a drinking game. You heard read correct. The only Super Pac I currently care about is a Super cold 6-Pack of Dos Equis... or Blue Moon. Haven't quite made my mind up just yet. 

POLITICAL DRINKING GAME. Pick a few words and every time a seedy politician says any of those words, take a drink. Here we have three active words. Elected, Economy, and Jobs. Now, you can switch things up a bit and say every time Romney say IMMIGRANTS- Drink, Gingrich says ELECTED- Drink, Paul says ECONOMY- Drink, and Santorum say JOBS- Drink.

For the record, I would take this election much more seriously if I thought the candidates were. I do feel there is one man who is genuine, but just one. Unfortunately, I do not see him going much further in this race. This makes me sad. He seems to have the heart we need.

Fancy Tea Party

My darling diva daughter adores Fancy Nancy, who could blame her right?

For her 3rd birthday we hosted a Fancy Tea Party! It was great...

I mean, the tea party was so spectacular & totally posh(ish.)

For weeks I raided the local Goodwill's and thrift shops.
I was able to find lots of interesting china for the kiddos to use.
Tea cups ran about 69 cents a piece and the saucers were were about 59 cents a piece.
The prefect price for kids ages 3-7 yrs old to use! 

No hard feelings when the inevitable happens.

All fancied up.

The darling daughter was ecstatic. Jessica (from Sweet Green Tangerine) and I made all the little posh princesses star wands with their initials to complete their fancy tea time attire.

I also had flowers and fancy embellishments available for the girls to decorate their fancy chapeau's. Their ensembles were absolutely dazzling!
(picked up the white plain jane hates from Target in the $1 bins after Easter)

Scoop soft ice cream into a cupcake pan with the cupcake liners already in
place, and sit the ice cream back into the freezer until it hardens.
When you pop the ice cream out of the liners you have perfectly shaped individual
fancy ice creams ready to serve.
A swirl of chocolate + a cherry = perfection!

Divine!

No tea cups were harmed in the making of this tea party.
