This morning I came across gracious rain's blog and it reminded me to do this with our extra broken crayons. I have been wanting to do something like this for a while, just never got around to it. Well, there is no time like the present.
Step #1: Find crayons and start peeling the paper from them. {This is not as easy as it was when we were kids.}
Step #2: Put cupcake liners in muffin/cupcake pan.
Step #3: Break up crayons and fill cups with colors of your choice. My kids helped me so we have some "camo/army" ones, some "police" ones, and some "rock star" girlie ones. Others are just a mishmash of colors tossed in.
Step #4: Bake at 350 for about 10-13 minutes. When they come out they should look like this. They are hot, best not to have the kiddos helping at this point. They can help again in another 10-20 minutes after they are done cooling.
Step #5: Allow the cupcake crayons to sit about 10-20 mins.
Step #6: Pop those babies out!
Step #7: Enjoy!! ... if your kids are anything like my daughter, you may have to remind them a couple times they they are NOT cookies, they are crayons.

What a fun DIY! I bet the kids love them.
ReplyDeleteLove the camo one the best!!!
ReplyDeletegreat Idea. I have a large tin Barbie suit case (originally one of those things you find at Christmas w/ popcorn in it) full of Crayons with tones of broken ones. Some are from when I was in my early teens.
