“Eleganza! Extravaganza!”

I am a HUGE fan of Rupaul and her shows; Rupaul's Drag Race and RuPaul's Drag U. Amazing. They have it all. Entertainment, drama, fashion, makeup tips-EVERYTHING. You can check out RuPaul's Drag Race Season 4 episodes here. My all time fav Queen is the one and only Ongina. She was/is Perfection. Seriously.

Today, Dollface and I were spending a little quality time in front of the boob-tube watching the lovely ladies of the episode get makeovers from amazing Drag Queens. I mean, if I were to get a makeover, I would want some assistance from a drag queen too! Who wouldnt? If anyone knows makeup and hair tricks and how to flatter your body, it would be those fabulous ladies. Right?! So as we sat here Ooing and Ahhing I was always Tweeting... shocker, right? Wellll to my surprise Logo mentioned me in a tweet! *squeal* Ah, yes, it is the little things in life that make me all gitty.

Miscellany

A day in my life is far from exciting, but here it is.

6am: Coffee for me, 7am: food for the pup, 8am: walking the big kids to school, 9am: getting dolled up, 10am, ready to take on the day, 11am: Mah Jong like a boss, Noon: the beast must eat again, 1pm: Mall time alone, 2pm: at the eye doc, 3pm, driving around in the Mr's big old dirty pick up truck, 4pm: taking some time to smell the roses, 5pm: admiring my lovely earrings found at the mall earlier (2 pairs are going to SGT for a bday present, ya know, since I always remember hers), 6pm: ZENNI! gotta get those cheap glasses since I had to get a new script from the doc.

There you have it. A day in the life of...

Thankful

Wow, where have I been this week?! You'd think there was a holiday or something!

This month I have spent a lot of time reflecting on the things I am thankful for.
  1. I am thankful for my health and the health of those close to us.
  2. I am thankful for my husband returning home safely from his 4th war time deployment, one year ago.
  3. I am thankful that he is still home with us and able to spend the holidays together as a family this year. (next year, we will not be as fortunate
  4. I am thankful for my incredibly candid and undeniably entertaining kids. They both amaze me & make me laugh every single day.
  5. I am thankful because no matter where we end up, we explore and find beauty in the things surrounding us.
  6. I am thankful to have the opportunity to experience the many different cultures right inside the US. Someday I hope to do the same in another country.
  7. I am thankful for family and for friends who turn into family.
  8. I am thankful for my dog. As silly as it sounds, he truly is a good friend to me & to the kids. He is a member of this family and we love him dearly.
  9. I am thankful for people who go into public service. Government, Nonprofit/NGO, International, Consulting, Education. Could you imagine how life would be without them? They have to take on a lot with little recognition and pay.
  10. Lastly, I am thankful for chocolate pie. During the holidays, my grandma Joan often made a chocolate pie special for me because I never liked the other kinds. To this day, I try to always make one in honor of her.

Not Naturally Skinny

Everyone has different body shapes and I applaud these woman.
They are Natural. They are Beautiful. They are Inspiring.

After so many years of being self-conscious, trying to be 'perfect', trying to be as skinny as possible to fit the 'media' standards only to end up miserable, bitchy, and ultimately failing,
I feel like I am accepting my body type. I am currently working on losing weight, but I am not trying to be 'skinny' I just want to feel better and be healthy.
