Random things I think about daily.

  • Please tell me I'm not the only one who celebrates silently (and sometimes not so silent) every time I make it in and out of the garage without scratching the side of my car all to hell.
  • I pretty much hate all you A, B, and C cup girls (not really, but maybe.) Why are there no D, DD, E sized bras that actually support in a sexy shmexy way? Is that asking too much?!
  • Never underestimate the power of endorphins when getting a piercing.
  • Never store hairspray near the salt water spray and the saline solution. Ever. In fact, just put the hairspray away all together.
  • I want a baby sloth.
  • I really wish people would stop grouping all military wives in the same unflattering category. We AREN'T all the same, people!
  • Blogging. Sorry I'm not a regular blogger, but I'm just not that interesting nor narcissistic enough to think you want to read everything I'd want to say.
  • YAY for The Great Gatsbys opening week! Haven't seen it yet, but I'm thinking I may sneak off tomorrow and go watch it all by my lonesome self.

And that, my friends, is just a moment in my head.

Moral Courage

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably heard about Malala Yousafzai, the 14-year-old Pakistani girl shot by Taliban gunman because she championed the rights of girls to receive an education.

I saw the illustration below on the Upworthy Facebook page here. It really makes you stop and think, at least it did me. This girl, she is an amazingly brave little girl... I don't even know what to say. She's still a baby. She was only born in 1998. I get emotional every time I hear or read her story. She is so brave. So intelligent. Simply extraordinary. I am in awe of her and her convictions.

As a mother, I cannot stop thinking about her parents.
How do you raise your daughter to stand up for what she believes in like this?
What the Taliban has done is beyond disgusting, but what she has potentially done for girls in her country- I am optimistic.

Her story is one of the very few reasons I can appreciate the media. Her story is out. She has already made a difference in this world. I hope, with everything I have in me, that she is able to recover from her attempted assassination.

STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN - Courage is a quality in men and women. Courage allows them to face up to challenges and dangers. A courageous person is not afraid to face any challenges or danger. There are two kinds of courage - ordinary courage and moral courage.

I Am Malala

--- EDIT --- UPDATE ---

Oh man, you guys scared me. I haven't found anything stating that she has passed. If it was anyone else, they wouldn't have survived. I say it again, this girl is truly amazing. She is at a specialty hospital in Britain being treated. The UAE and covering the bill. I can't tell you how much I am drawn to this story.

Gotta check those Stats > Traffic Source, because how else would you know if you are associated with Gypsy Porn.

Sorry guys, no Gypsy Porn here. Not today anyways.

I'm trying hard not to think about the "Green Fuzzy Quack Moldy Duck" search and why it would be directed here...

A story to funny not to tell

A little while back, I traded in my gas guzzling monster SUV and I needed something that my 6'3 husband & great dane could both fit comfortably in. I know to look at the Nissan Cube, you may start to laugh and swear to never drive one. Shoot, I did. I only entertained the idea of looking inside one because I had a few minutes to kill while waiting for someone inside the Nissan Dealership in Savannah, Ga. I opened the door on the display car and thought "huh, not bad, not bad at all." Once you get in it, you see all the space in this little car and I bet you start to fall in love, just as I did.
The kids fit, I fit, the tall Mr. and huge dog all fit.

Everything was right with the world, at least for a minute.

Then we moved to El Paso and chose to live off post. I no longer got to drive my cute car on a daily basis due to gas prices and a 30+ minute drive to Biggs. The hubs has an old dodge pick up and I'm stuck driving 'Big Red' while he had my sweet 'Tallulah'.
*sad face*

Apparently a man can only drive this car for so long while being in the Cav and surrounded by testosterone before reaching his breaking point.

I loved my car. Loved it. It was quirky, it was cute, it was different and ironic.
It was so much fun to  drive and I enjoyed giggling at people who would stare as I putt putted past.
~~~~
Let the replacement shopping begin.
*sad face*
After intensive car shopping, we finally found a car we both could agree on. While we were in the middle of the paperwork, and talking to the finance guy I tell him that I loved my toaster and I'm going to miss her.
He stops and stares. "Toaster?" he says. "Yes, my Nissan Cube" I say.
"Wait a minute, that car, the one with the 'Toaster Edition' sticker on the back? The one thats always over here on this side of town?"
"The one and only"
He laughs. Says he can't wait to tell his son that he met the [previous] owners of the Toaster. I guess my car is famous. I had no idea.
This made for a good laugh during a sad time for me.
~~~~~
Now its time to name the new car, cause that's not weird, right?  Do you name your cars?
Dollface helped with the naming of Tallulah Pancake. I guess I'll let her help with the naming of the new car too. :) Fun Times.

its funny because its true

Well, I'm a little late on posting this meme. They were all the craze last week amongst bloggers, SO here I am, as fashionably late as ever, Darlings... (spoken in an Absolutely Fabulous voice)

Oh, if you really knew me you would know:

I am an only child, a middle child, the oldest of four, and the youngest of three. It’s safe to say that I am a sister to several.

I am the keeper of many, many secrets.

I am a news junky.

I was given my first typewriter for my 5th birthday.

Wrote my first ‘story’ by my 6th birthday.

I have a dream of completing a novel. Right now, I have notes, an outline, the first three pages, and several random pages. It is not as easy as I remember when when I was six was.

I swear like a sailor!

I am a compulsive picture taker. I own way to many cameras and I bought the iPhone, in particular, because of the camera and photo apps available. My kids jokingly call me Paparazzi Mama.

I suffer from mild migraines, but lately they have been getting worse. I think its time to call the doc.

My husband is my best friend. Always has been, always will be.  Hands down, no questions asked. Its him.
Yet he gets on my nerves so badly that I want to throat punch him daily.
I love that man.

I am much more disappointed in my lack of personal accomplishments than I could ever express in words.

I have anger issues.

I am a horrible cook.

I am overly sensitive about way to many things. I try not to let this show because I know how ridiculous it is that I care about so much that has nothing to do with me.

I cry during movies, commercials, songs, books, anything. If it truly moves me, I promise you, I am probably fighting back tears.

I am happiest during a Midwest fall. I miss the crisp to the air and the colors of the trees. Desert life is not for me.

I am a roller derby wanna be.  I wish there were more hours in a day and I wish there was a Derby Fairy & she would bring me all the awesome gear required for practice & play. Shits expensive!

I over think and over analyze EVERYTHING and I usually make myself miserably sick because of this bad habit.

My dad has stage 4 Melanoma cancer. The doctors told him he would be lucky to make it another 12 months. That was two years ago. Sadly, he is the person I am least compassionate to. I'm working on this.

I love bad jokes. Like, really love them.
Did you hear the one about the roof?

I want to be covered in amazing tattoos, but I am scared of how some respected family members would react. My parents wouldn’t mind, but other elder family members would. I wish I didn’t care about what they thought of me.

I have severe body image issues.

I lose everything. Everything. From keys to wallets to sunglasses to jewelry to phones to children. It is, by far, the most frustrating thing.

Revamping the old Life List

Isn't it funny how, at one point in your life, things that seem so important to experience can suddenly seem so unimportant just a few years later? I went back to look at the list that was created years and years ago and all the additions made throughout the past few years. I couldn't help but notice that the way I once saw things was no more. I see things completely differently now. Things that were once so unbelievably important for me to do in life are no longer, yet other things are even more important. Life lessons and maturing are to blame, I'm sure. Am I becoming a more responsible adult? Say it ain't so! I still want to do some of those things, but they no longer feel like a need.

A few additions made to the list were:

*Visit All 50 U.S. States ~  How can I appreciate other countries without truly experiencing and appreciating my own country & state? Unless we get orders to go over seas, odds are that I am not making it out of the U.S. any time soon. Might as well explore!
It looks like I have the lower half taken care of. Oklahoma will be marked off the list next month when the kids and I drive home to Missouri. Then California will be taken care of next summer/fall. We are planning a family vacation to the Legoland Resort & San Diego Sea World.

via

*Planting a minimum of five trees
*Vote in every presidential election throughout my entire life
* Finish my fricken BA then work towards my goal ~ my masters
*Write a children's book dedicated to my two kiddos
*Donate my hair to Locks of Love
*Go to a psychic or a medium ~ OK, Confession: I've actually attempted to visit a psychic a few times and it never worked out... hmm maybe its a sign? Maybe I'm not meant to hear what they have to say??
*Give a homeless person a wrapped gift ~ Everyone loves the excitement from unwrapping gifts! Perhaps Christmas time would be ideal for this.
*Hug a stranger ~ I'm actually sure I've done this, but sometimes people just need to be hugged. I need to start hugging. I used to be such an affectionate person. Always laughing and smiling and hugging someone. I think I grew out of it? I want to get this quality back.

Do you have a list?
Have you felt the need to revise it lately?
Any suggestions?

Blogoversary = Eye Candy Celebration

Here is yet another little fact; I crush on some of the most random Hollywood actors. I am not the typical girl who swoons over icons like:

Johnny Depp: OK, OK now there is no denying that fact that this is one attractive man, but… he’s just not one I’d crush over. Drool- sure; Crush- no.

 via

 via

Brad Pitt:Known for his rugged good looks (PEOPLE named him Sexiest Man Alive twice)eh..

  via

Ryan Reynolds: Yet another man named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine. Nice to look & a wee bit funny. Not bad.

 via

As for me, I like to go on the more unconventional route when picking my celeb crushes.

Jason Segel: Tall, talented, and freakin' FUNNY! Whats not to love?!

 via

And this girl, this girl right here, She is my hero!

Paul Rudd:I first saw him in Clueless as Josh. He's also in Romeo+Juliet. Anchorman. Role Models. I Love You Man... Oh, the list goes on. "slappin da bass, man." ah, what a funny man.

Vince Vaughn: How can you not enjoy this 6'4 man?

I would have to say that my husband is a good mix between both Vince Vaughn & Jason Segel. He towers over me and makes me laugh continuously.
(the hubs also reminds me of Shaggy)

And just one more crush of mine...

The one and only:

Peter Dinklage:  YES YES YES. This man stole my heart way back in 2003 with his break out role in The Station Agent. And I love that his last name is DINKLAGE!

Perhaps this was my own bloggy birthday gift to myself. I hope you enjoy the love, lust, and laughs. I know I have.

Ballistic Gypsy- Happy Birthday To You, my wonderful outlet.

Questionable

Be You

 via

A couple days ago, Miss Chrissy from Whimsical Poppysmic tagged me in this fun little get to know you game. And since I love games, how could I not play along?

[Rules]
1. You must post these rules.

2. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.

3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.

4. You have to choose 11 people to tag and link them on the post.

5. Go to their page and tell them you have linked him or her.

6. No tag backs.

7. No stuff in the tagging section about ‘you are tagged if you are reading this.’ You legitimately have to tag 11!

[Easy Peasy, right? so here we go...]

[11 Things about me that you probably do not know]

1.  I do judge a book by its cover. I like to walk into the book store and grab the very first thing that catches my eye. Often I will go home and start reading it right away without even looking on the back to see what it is about. I find this so much more exciting :)

2. I am both and only child & a sister to many. His, hers, and theirs, steps and half's. Whatever. They are all my brothers and sisters. XOXO

3. I curse profusely.

4. I fidget, A LOT.

5. I love really bad jokes. I have a huge catalog of them in my head just waiting for the right moment to share one.

6. I absolutely detest the shower curtain being opened.

7. The words Epic and Literally are two of the most overused & misused filler words and they make me want to stab myself in the eye with a plastic spoon.

8. I turn into a raging monster when chronically sleep deprived.

9. Daisies have always been my favorite flower. I even got a daisy tattoo, my first tattoo, at the ripe old age of 18 :)

10. I want to move to London, like tomorrow.

11. I have a massively huge crush on Steve Carell. I developed the crush after watching the movie Dan In Real Life.

~~~~~~~~~
Ok, those were the 11 facts about myself. Now on to the questions Chrissy posted for me!
1. Are you happy with your life right now? Well thats kind of a loaded question. In general, I'll say yes.
2. Where would you like to travel?  in a word, EVERYWHERE.
3. Name your favorite quote from a book, song or movie. “Inconceivable!” — The Princess Bride
4. Are you secretly in love with someone? Nah, its pretty public.
5. Are you a daydreamer? If yes, what do you dream about? Yes, and I daydream about the life I am living taking place in another country.
6. What is your favorite animal and why? I really don't have a favorite.
7. If you won the lottery big time, what would you buy/ do first? Pay off debt then invest and keep living life as we are.
9. What is your biggest hobby? I'd have to say Photography.
10. Do you have a favorite perfume?  Yes, I love me some True Religion.
11. What's your biggest wish for 2012? To feel at home here.
Those were my answers to Chrissy's questions and here are my 11 questions for the bloggers I will tag below!
1. What colors inspire you?
