Dead Peoples Things For Sale
One thing I will never turn down is a chance to go thrifting, or as I like to call it, rummaging through dead peoples things. If someone says "Hey, lets thrift." I am in my car faster than you can say Jack Robinson. Its an addiction, really.
Here are some views from the day:
$99.99 at a Goodwill.
Ya know, its a sad day when I cant afford a toy from GOODWILL for my daughter
(not that I'd let her play with this one.)
This reminds me of something Sweet Green Tangerines mom said once, "Goodwills, its not just for poor people anymore." :)
I kinda really love this painting(s) *LIGHT-BULB*
Things that make you go "WTF, Barbie"
Oh, Big Mac, you made St. Louis so proud... for minute.
...I know the feeling, dude.
This vintage gem was almost purchased by my lil sis today. She is doing my nieces room in vintage toys. Wouldn't this Kewpie Doll be perfect?! We may have to go back before she leaves.

Who's that knocking at my door...
Sweet Green Tangerine - say what-what! It had been a YEAR! A year, people! since our families last saw each other. A YEAR! and the last time we did see each other, it was on I-10 at a truck stop McD's while she was traveling East & us moving West.
Luckily,
her folks live about 7 hrs from our current place of residency. ROAD
TRIP! It was like these kids had never been apart. They picked back up
with their friendships right where they left off back in Georgia.
and they were even nice/cooperative enough to let the 'grown ups' do a little antiquing/thrifting big Texas style.
Needless to say, the kids had a fantastic visit! and so did the adults :)
I'd say our friendship is build on pretty solid ground.
Ice Cream & Beer. Now that's living.
To Be Continued.

-Bookshelves of Wonder-
Ah, childhood memories,
prompted by The.Book.Chat at Sweet
Green Tangerine.
This week she asked for our favorite books from childhood
and adolescence. Hmm, time to divulge a little insight to my life. I wasn’t much
of a reader as a child. Blame it on what you will- The fact is, I cannot recall a single time my mother ever
just sitting and reading to me as a child. Surely she did. She had to? I do, however, remember
my dad reading me some of J.R.R Tolkien's The Hobbit. Once. It was thrilling. As for myself, though,
I didn’t care much for sitting still and exploring the life inside books. If a
teacher did not require it, I did not read it. This went on throughout High
School.
Hindsight, this makes me sad. Very sad. As a result, I read
to my kids often. I want them to have a passion that I never had as a child. I
want them to get lost in the magical words of wonder.
As always, I want to give them the world. So
this post is not about my favorite childhood book, instead it is about the
things that I hope my kids remember when they are grown.
The daughter and I went in search of a thrifty bookstore I
had heard about. We found it. It was amazing!
Coincidentally, without even looking to see what
Jessica’s chat topic was for this week, I picked up a few classics & they seem to fit in perfectly. Two of
which I am particularly excited to add to her bookshelf and start reading to
her.
They are all four vintage and beautiful; smelling like an
old library. *Heaven*
o
Heidi, Johanna Spyri
o
Little Women, Louisa May Alcott
o
Bedknob and Broomstick, Mary Norton
How gorgeous are these?!
So Random, but old Abe's face kind freaks me out a bit.
I keep imagining flowers & paisleys on it like a sugar skull...

DIY Day
Today, I am determined.
I will do something.
I will do more than one something.
I will finish each project I start.
Lookie what I got! A complete color chart thingy from Behr. How awesome is this?!
Flowerpot Makeover:
$1.98 flowerpot from Lowes
$3 scrapbook rub-on's from Michael's
Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Clear Gloss Finish from Wal-Mart
Disclaimer: I can not vouch for the longevity of this little DIY, but I will update this post when/if they start to come off. So far so good.
This damn thing both infuriated me and completely grossed me out. I did learn, however, that the next time I buy a house (if there is a next time) I will require the previous owners to remove their own black garbage disposal thingy because holy freakin nasty! I couldn't even get the damn thing out. There was so much grossness that I had to soak it with Goo Gone for a good 20 mins and pried it out with a butter knife and scissors. Gagging the whole time. But...

Next up, the guest bathroom.
This is a job for the Mr.
Changing out the ugly old faucet and adding a way cute new one.
P.S. How bout the $2.99 Pier 1 toothbrush holder.
THRIFTED - Score!
Aww, My Mr. hard at work! ^^

Confession: I'm posting this from my Draft's.
I didn't even finish the blog post last night. Whoops!
Oh, and my 'Pinteresting Canvas Art' is not complete either.
I'll finish it up today and post my results. So far, I have a few Pinterest Fails under my belt and no real success stories.

Its going to be
HOT HOT HOT!
I'm so going to love it!!
Cannot wait to post the AFTER pictures of this Home DIY.

Camera Porn
How have I not talked about this before? Shame on me, I'm slacking. . .
Among the many tings I collect, cameras are one of my favorites. - The hubs did good. He found these, two [heavy] bad boys + cases, for me when we were at a seriously weird "antique mall" on the border of Texas and New Mexico.
I hope to fill the mantle will all kinds of old(er) & odd cameras in the future.

☼ ☼ ☼
This weekend I am going to try to:
๏ Finish reading Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
๏ Search for fabric for my kitchen.
I need curtains in a bad way and not just anything will do.
If I could thrift something like the ones shown
below, I'd be a happy girl.
below, I'd be a happy girl.
Odds are that I will have to order. I hate buying new. Don't you?
Thrift stores have spoiled me & my budget :)
How do you like these colors?
♡Color My World♡
(btw: my husband totally hates these, lol he prefers the
stagnate 'grandma' approach to decorating)
๏ I suppose we will also hit the dog park or take the gang for a hike.
I would much rather hiking.
There is something about a dog park that
I dislike...a lot.
I dislike...a lot.
Whats on your agenda for this weekend?
